Dr. Gus W. Thornton

THORNTON, Dr. Gus W. Of Medfield formerly of Needham January 24, age 77. Beloved husband of Joyce K. Sullivan, devoted father of Thomas W. Thornton and his wife Elaine of Long Beach CA., Kara Thornton and her husband Jeffrey May of Dalton MA., stepfather of Patrick and Paul Sullivan of Marshfield, cherished brother of John Thornton of Stillwater OK., and Vernon Thornton of Tyngsboro MA., loving grandfather of Rose, Catherine, Emma and Cooper. He also leaves his first wife Barbara Lovely of Needham and is predeceased by his second wife Marietta Flood Thornton. Also survived by many nieces nephews, in laws and friends. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Old South Church in Boston 645 Boylston St., corner of Dartmouth and Boylston at the Copley T, Friday morning at 11. Rev. Nancy Taylor officiating. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting Hours Thursday evening 4-8 in the Alexander F. Thomas & Sons Funeral Home, 45 Common St., WALPOLE. Chief of Staff at Angell Memorial Hospital, President Emeritus MSPCA. In lieu of flowers donations in Dr. Thornton's memory may be made to the Pet Care Assistant Fund, C/O MSPCA 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA, 02130. Interment in Vine Lake Cemetery Medfield.
